Amazon Freshwater Program Project Manager
The Nature Conservancy
This vacancy is open to applicants residing in Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, or Peru.
This position will coordinate the development of a highly collaborative approach to accelerate impact of The Nature Conservancy’s FW priority goals in the Amazon Basin. The Nature Conservancy’s freshwater conservation agenda for the Amazon basin, contributes to a healthy, connected and resilient Amazon Basin, where biodiversity and freshwater ecosystems thrive, enriching the lives of its inhabitants and making societies more prosperous.
Responsibilities include:  fundraising, collective  achievement of program objectives and outcomes, promote and organize spaces for exchange learnings and best practices  among TNC business units and local partners, identify key stakeholders for supporting our work with a basin approach, develop fundraising proposals, identify and cultivate donor prospects, communicate our freshwater conservation work in the Amazon, ensure quality implementation and donor reporting,  prepare donor reports, monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL), as well as sharing and dissemination of data and learnings. As a spokesperson for the program facilitates communication and coordination of efforts among the partners and with key stakeholders for advancing the freshwater agenda in the Amazon.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING
•   BA/BS degree and 5 years’ experience in freshwater conservation practice in the Amazon or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
•   Fundraising experience, including identifying donor prospects and donor cultivation
•   Experience managing complex or multiple projects, including managing finances and coordinating the work of other professionals and partners.
•   Human-centered leadership and experienced working in a complex and matrixed structure
•   Supervisory experience, including motivating, leading, setting objectives and managing performance.
•   Experience in partnership development with non-profit partners, community groups and/or  government agencies.
•   Experience negotiating.
•   Experience in producing donor reports and communication reports
•   Communicating clearly via written, spoken, and graphical means in Spanish, Portuguese and English
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
•   Multi-lingual and multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience appreciated with a focus in the Amazon
•   Master degree in a field related with freshwater conservation or Amazon conservation
•   Experience in working with indigenous peoples and local communities
•   Demonstrated experience influencing, developing and implementing conservation policy and plans.
•   Ability to develop practical applications of scientific concepts and technical innovations for conservation purposes.
•   Knowledge of methods and standards of freshwater biodiversity information systems and initiatives or related field.
•   Politically savvy.

The Department of Natural Resources and the Environment welcomes applications for a 9-month, full-time, tenure-track position in aquatic ecology and fisheries science at the level of Assistant or Associate Professor. The position will entail 50% research and 50% teaching. Responsibilities will centre around research complemented by teaching and mentoring within the Department of Natural Resources and the Environment (DNRE). DNRE is a leader of sustainability science within the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS); our collective expertise in the natural and social sciences is paired with vigorous traditions of non-academic partnerships and stakeholder engagement. We seek to build upon existing strengths in aquatic ecology and ecosystem management within DNRE and other Cornell units by hiring a researcher interested in leveraging both field expertise and regionally collected long-term data resources.
